In order to identify type 2 diabetes, you need to take a very hard look at your individual
health. You need to be honest about the health symptoms you are experiencing. Too many
individuals ignore the symptoms and wind up suffering from type 2 diabetic problems before
the disease has run the course.
Some of the common symptoms of diabetes include your body’s healing ability; thirst and urination;
and heart disease. You should consult your doctor for diabetic testing if you experience
any of these symptoms.
Your Body’s Healing Ability
You should be concerned about potential type 2 diabetes if you experience a slow rate
of healing of your skin or gums or have urinary tract infections. Your body’s white blood
cells, produced in your bone marrow, are part of the immune system and help to protect the
body against disease. Your body’s white blood cells may not be working properly if you
experience any of these problems. The white blood cells should help your body heal. In a
high blood glucose situation, these cells do not work well. The bugs that cause these
infections thrive in an environment that has high blood glucose.
Frequent Thirst and Urination
Do you experience a constant thirst all day that you cannot quench no matter how much
liquid you consume? This is a side effect of type 2 and type 1 diabetics. Your body is
severely dehydrated by a high level of blood glucose. It has the effect of preventing your
body from holding the water you consume.
Heart Disease
Look out for heart disease. This is a disease that affects a very large percentage of
people in the United States. Heart disease very often can cause a person to develop diabetes.
If you are glucose intolerant there is a chance you could have heart disease without being
diagnosed with diabetes. Discuss this with your doctor. What preventative measures should
you take about type 2 diabetes in addition to the measure to treat your heart disease.
