DIABETES

Type 1 Diabetes

Do you have type 1 diabetes? Do you know what it is? Type 1 diabetes is best classified as the human body lacking (deficient) insulin. Insulin is produced by the pancreatic islet cells. Insulin is used by the body to maintain glucose level in blood at a normal level. A person develops symptoms of hyperglycemia if the blood glucose level rises too high.

If you have any of the following symptoms, you need to see your medical doctor quickly to determine if type 1 diabetes exists:

1. Urinating Excessively

Your kidneys cannot put all the excess glucose into the bloodstream when you have too much glucose. The urine becomes highly concentrated as a result of the high glucose level in it. As a result, the body will withdraw water from the blood and put it into your urine. This then leads to a high level of glucose in the urine. The glucose and water fills up your bladder on a more frequent basis. This will lead to excessive urination.

2. High Level of Thirst

Your body will get rid of a lot of water every hour due to urinating on an excessive basis. This leads to the body becoming dehydrated and a resulting higher level of thirst than normal.

3. Weight Loss

It is common to lose weight if you have the type 1 diabetes. When your body looses glucose through urination, the body has to get energy from available body resources. This means that your body will use the available fat and muscle tissue in your body as it strives to find energy to draw on.

4. Extreme Hunger

You will experience a very high hunger level as a result of the urination, thirst and weight loss. Insulin is used to get glucose into the body cells. The body cells become under nourished because of the lack of adequate insulin. This leads a constant feeling of being extremely hungry even though you may have eaten plenty of food.

5. Weakness and Fatigue

Weakness and extreme fatigue sets in through the above events. Your body has lost water through frequent urination which results in a high level of thirst. Body weight has been lost because your good muscle tissue is being cannibalized and you have extreme hunger due to malnourished cells. The plain and simple fact is your body is under nourished and receiving the required energy it needs from the glucose. The end result is fatigue and an extreme feeling of being tired.
